West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster expresses his "complete shock" over the penalty given to Crystal Palace that ensured that the Eagles ran out 3-1 winners.

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster has expressed his "complete shock" after Crystal Palace were awarded a late penalty that gave the Eagles a 3-1 win in yesterday's Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.

Goals from Thomas Ince and Joe Ledley gave the home side a 2-0 lead at the break, but Thievy Bifouma's strike just after the restart reduced the deficit.

However, referee Chris Foy gave Marouane Chamakh a penalty midway through the second half, which was converted by the Moroccan international himself.

"I was in complete shock when he gave the penalty," Foster told Sky Sports News. "We have just got to suck it up and get on with it.

"It is irrelevant what we see in the replays. It is fine lines. If we had put our chances in the net it would have been 2-2 and you never know what could have happened.

"From a personal point of view, my opinion is that I didn't think I fouled the player. It makes no odds now what my opinion is because the decision has been made, but I thought I got the ball and it didn't deserve to be a penalty."

The Baggies currently occupy 14th place in the Premier League table and are three points above the drop zone.
