Crystal Palace striker Connor Wickham has been banned for three matches by the Football Association.
The violent conduct charge relates to an incident in last Saturday's Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur when Wickham appeared to elbow opponent Jan Vertonghen as the two jostled for position at a corner.
Because the incident was not seen by officials on the day at Selhurst Park, the FA has been able to retrospectively punish the former Sunderland man.
In a statement on its website, the FA revealed that Wickham admitted the charge but unsuccessfully tried to have the punishment reduced.
The 22-year-old will miss Palace's FA Cup fourth-round tie against Stoke City tomorrow and the Premier League games against Bournemouth and Swansea City next month.
