Keith Millen has claimed that he is expecting to see Crystal Palace improve in the Premier League after securing their progress in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.
Dwight Gayle scored a hat-trick to help the Eagles to a 3-0 victory over Walsall, and Millen was quick to turn his attention back to the Premier League as the club's hierarchy continue their search for a new manager.
"My mindset is now to move on to Newcastle," the caretaker manager told members of the media. "I enjoy being in charge of the players - I enjoy making decisions and they are a good group to work with. They are honest.
"We have not let ourselves down the last couple of games in the Premier League, but we've not performed like we can.
"This performance tonight will give a bit of a gee up to the first team players and they know there's some competition there."
Palace have lost both of their opening two Premier League fixtures.
