Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has said that comments made by television pundits affected the Football Association's decision to charge Mile Jedinak with violent conduct.
The Palace captain could miss four matches after elbowing West Ham United's Diafra Sakho on Saturday.
The match was televised live on Sky Sports, and pundit Jamie Redknapp claimed Jedinak could have "broken Sakho's jaw".
"We're damned by TV at times. The punditry seems to be having a greater and greater effect on the decision process at the FA," Pardew told The Mirror.
"That's a little bit worrying. I hope you're governed by the FA, not by what people are saying on the TV."
Jedinak has until 6pm on Tuesday to respond to the charge.
