Wayne Rooney is expected to leave Everton this summer following reports that he has agreed a "deal in principle" with Major League Soccer side DC United.
The former England international is moving to the US in a deal worth £12m, brokered by the player's agent Paul Stretford and the MLS club's chief executive Jason Levein, according to Sky Sports News.
Rooney is said to be on the verge of signing a contract that will keep him at DC until the end of their 2020 campaign.
The report suggests that the deal will be officially confirmed when the MLS mid-season transfer window opens on July 10.
Rooney would become the highest-paid player on DC's books, but the club are said to be hoping that their move to new Audi Field stadium in July will help them bankroll the deal.
England's top goalscorer returned to boyhood club Everton last summer on a free transfer, after a 13-year stay at Manchester United.
