Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has admitted that his country's exit from the World Cup is 'disappointing'.
The Leicester City stopper saved three penalties against Croatia on Tuesday evening, including two in the final shootout, but the second-smallest nation left in the competition prevailed to book their spot in the last eight.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Schmeichel added that he is proud to have helped his side reach the last 16.
"It's a strange feeling," the 31-year-old said. "[It's a] huge disappointment but also enormous pride about our team. I think we had the opportunity."
Croatia will face Russia in the quarter-finals after the hosts defeated Spain.
