Steve McClaren has said that it was inevitable Derby County would face Queens Park Rangers in the Championship playoff final.
McClaren left his job as a coach at QPR to join Derby as head coach, guiding the Rams to a third-place finish and five points more than QPR, who finished fourth.
Both have now come through their playoff semi-finals against Brighton & Hove Albion and Wigan Athletic respectively and McClaren says that it was written in the stars that he would face QPR.
"You couldn't write the script better could you than for us to play Queens Park Rangers in the final?" he told Sky Sports News.
"We're looking forward to it and I think over the two legs, they deserved to beat Wigan and make the final."
The playoff final takes place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, May 24 with a kickoff of 3pm.
