Derby County manager Nigel Clough has described the loan move of Ross Atkins to Alfreton Town as a "great opportunity" for the goalkeeper.
Atkins has moved to the Conference Premier side on a season-long loan deal, and Clough believes that the 23-year-old needs to play playing regular football at this stage of his career.
The 47-year-old told the club's official website: "At this stage of Ross's career he needs to be playing regular first-team football, so the move to Alfreton is a great opportunity for him.
"The loan move will be beneficial for all parties involved as it allows Ross to play competitive first-team football whilst training on a full-time basis with Martin Taylor and the rest of the goalkeepers."
Atkins has made just one senior appearance for the Pride Park outfit.
