Derby County have signed Northampton Town youngster Michael Jacobs after agreeing an undisclosed fee with the Cobblers.
Promising midfielder Jacobs, 20, who has come through the ranks at Sixfields, declined the offer of a new contract at Northampton earlier this year and has now chosen Pride Park as his new home.
"I had a few options to choose from but having seen the set-up Derby has, which is of Premier League standard in my opinion, you can see it's geared up for success," Jacobs told Derby's website.
"In fact, it wowed me when I came up to the training ground. I went to a few other clubs to talk to them, but Derby stood out above them all and I had my sights set on the club after that."
The Rams host newly-promoted Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day of the new Championship season on Saturday, August 18.
