Will Hughes has reportedly turned down Derby County's offer of a new contract.
The 21-year-old is under contract with the Championship outfit until 2018, but it is understood that the Rams want to tie the highly-rated midfielder to a new long-term deal.
However, according to The Mirror, Hughes turned down the offer, which was not in line with the top earners at the club, with Bradley Johnson believed to collect around £30,000 a week.
Hughes, who has previously been linked with a move to Liverpool, missed the majority of the 2015-16 campaign with a serious knee injury, but has returned to the fold in recent weeks.
The attacking midfielder made his Derby debut as a 16-year-old in November 2011 and is fast closing in on 150 appearances for the Rams.
Earlier this month, former England midfielder Jamie Redknapp claimed that Hughes was "the Mesut Ozil of the Championship" and challenged the youngster to make the step into the top flight of English football.
