Pascal Chimbonda is poised to join Doncaster Rovers after the Championship outfit offered the free agent a contract.
The French defender was released by Queens Park Rangers at the end of last season after their promotion to the Premier League.
"It's a good opportunity - the Championship is a really hard league and it's competitive. I didn't sign yet, but we'll see," he told Sky Sports News .
New Rovers boss Dean Saunders, who is keen to add to his squad, is also reportedly interested in Chimbonda's former Blackburn teammate El-Hadji Diouf.
Chimbonda started his career in England with Wigan before spells at Tottenham, Sunderland, Blackburn and QPR.
