Dundee midfielder Jim McAlister has urged Dundee United striker Nadir Ciftci to admit to biting him during the derby a fortnight ago.
Photos taken at the match appear to show Ciftci biting McAlister's leg, but he and Dundee United have denied the accusations.
McAlister now hopes that Ciftci will be punished by the Scottish Football Association.
"We probably wouldn't have to go through all of this if Ciftci had just apologised, whether it was at full-time, a day later or a week later," McAlister told the Sunday Mail.
"It's now going to be a long drawn-out process with the SFA. But if he was big enough to admit he was wrong and that he'd make a mistake, I'd shake his hand.
"I'd say, 'No problem', wish him luck for the rest of his career and get on with mine. But that hasn't happened and because my allegation has been staunchly denied by him and United, we now find ourselves in this position."
The Terrors won the match 3-0, with Ciftci netting twice.
