Eibar have been relegated from La Liga despite beating Cordoba 3-0 on the final day of the season.
The hosts' healthy advantage had looked enough to see them retain their top-flight status ahead of Deportivo La Coruna, who were losing 2-0 at Barcelona.
However, Deportivo's unlikely fightback at the Camp Nou saw them survive and relegate Eibar due to an inferior head-to-head record.
They welcomed already-relegated Cordoba to the Ipurua Municipal Stadium knowing that victory, coupled with what seemed a probable Deportivo defeat at champions Barcelona, would see them secure final-day survival in La Liga.
Consequently, Gaizka Garitano's side wasted little time in keeping up their end of the bargain as they found themselves 2-0 ahead inside 11 minutes.
First, Mikel Arruabarrena glanced home Ander Capa's teasing cross, before Raul Navas added another header to get Garitano's men off to the ideal start.
Capa completed the scoring on 34 minutes with a tidy finish, but the result was rendered inconsequential by Deportivo's heroics in Catalonia.
