Eintracht Braunschweig have lifted themselves of the bottom of the Bundesliga with a 1-0 home win against Hoffenheim on Saturday afternoon.
The hosts looked motivated from the off and the first genuine chance fell their way, but Orhan Ademi could not bend his effort from the edge of the box on target.
Omar Elabdellaoui and Ademi both came close again as Braunschweig looked to capitalise on their strong start with the opening goal.
Sven Schipplock then brought down Ermin Bicakcic in the area, with Torsten Oehrl making no mistake from the spot to put his side in front.
Back came Hoffenheim, but they were struggling to create genuine chances and indeed Sejad Salihovic's missed shot from range was indicative of their performance.
Ademi came close again in the second half but he was unable to provide his team with a cushion. However, the hosts did hang on for the result that moved them above Nuremberg.
