Dustin Correa scored an injury-time equaliser to earn El Salvador a 1-1 draw with Costa Rica in the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Saturday evening.
The World Cup quarter-finalists went close through an early Alvaro Saborio shot, while Bryan Ruiz missed a glorious chance from a few yards out.
The Ticas upped the tempo after the break and almost found the breakthrough as Pablo Herrera shot wide, but Ruiz gave them the lead minutes later when he calmly side-footed the ball home following a whipped cross.
El Salvador sent a warning midway through the half as Esteban Alvorado was forced into a low save to keep out Alexander Larin's effort, before Correa popped up in added time to fire the ball into the back of the net to confirm a draw.
