Elche have been held to a 0-0 draw at home by Osasuna despite having the better of the play for much of the game.
Their captain Coro blazed a penalty over the bar during a second half of few clear-cut chances.
The visitors almost went ahead after just a few minutes, but Tono was equal to Oriol Riera's header and tipped it wide.
Elche soon found their feet, passing well and creating several good opportunities. First Manu del Moral just failed to pick out the run of Cristian Herrera, before Carlos Sanchez head over from a good position.
After an even start to the second half, Elche were awarded a soft penalty when Fidel went down. Coro stepped up, but blasted the spot kick high into the stands to the disappointment of the home crowd.
The hosts then had to change their goalkeeper when Tono was injured, bringing on Manu Herrera. The new man was involved straight away, producing a fine save to deny a header from a corner.
Elche continued to push forward and forced a series of late corners, but they couldn't find the target and had to settle for a point.
