Elche have ended a run of four games without a win in La Liga by beating Valencia 2-1 in this evening's encounter at the Estadio Martinez Manuel Valero.
There were plenty of chances for both sides in the opening 45 minutes, although the better ones fell to the visitors, with Jonas coming close on a few occasions.
However, the scoreline was still goalless heading into the break.
The hosts took the lead thanks to a powerful header from Fidel in the 57th minute, but they were forced to hang on as Alberto Botia cleared off the line to prevent Jonas from restoring parity.
Second-half substitute Juan Bernat made an immediate impact after coming off the bench, firing in a rebound to draw his team level in the 73rd minute.
The points were decided by debutant Cristian Herrera, who coolly slotted across Diego Alves six minutes from time, meaning that his team are now in ninth place.
Meanwhile, Los Che have won just one of their last seven games.
