Robbie Savage believes that Phil Jagielka should replace John Terry in the England starting lineup for this Tuesday's Euro 2012 group encounter against co-hosts Ukraine.
While acknowledging John Terry's quality as a defender, former Wales international Savage feels that a pairing of Jagielka and Joleon Lescott would leave England less susceptible to strikers with good movement and pace.
"John Terry is a good leader, he is a good organiser and a fantastic captain for Chelsea. When he plays for England I think the movement does it for him a bit," Savage told BBC Radio Five Live.
"I'd like to see Phil Jagielka get a chance against Ukraine and if he does well, let him keep his place. When England beat Spain Jagielka and Joleon Lescott were the defensive pair.
"Terry is fantastic for Chelsea but I think it is time to give Jagielka and Lescott their chance."
Lescott and Jagielka previously played alongside each other at Everton.
