England manager Roy Hodgson has said that Wayne Rooney deserves to be labelled as a great player for the country.
The 29-year-old will win his 100th international cap for the Three Lions when he plays in Saturday evening's Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia.
"Any player who has played 100 times for England - you could probably take the number down to 75 if you wanted - deserves the epithet great," Hodgson told Sky Sports News.
"We can debate until the cows come home who's the greatest and what greatness is but the way I understand the word great, anyone who plays 100 times for England is a great player."
Rooney has scored 43 goals in his 99 previous appearances for England.
