Harry Redknapp: 'Roy Hodgson must deliver at Euro 2016'

Harry Redknapp believes that Roy Hodgson will be under "severe pressure" if England fail to make an impact at next year's European Championship.

Harry Redknapp has suggested that Roy Hodgson is lucky to still be England manager following last summer's "poor" showing at the World Cup.

The Three Lions crashed out of the showpiece competition in Brazil without winning a single game.

Despite the disappointment of finishing bottom of Group D, Football Association chiefs opted to stick by Hodgson for the ongoing Euro 2016 qualification campaign.

Redknapp believes that most other nations would have changed manager, however, while claiming that the Three Lions boss is now under intense pressure to succeed at Euro 2016.

"I like Roy but, let's be honest, we had a poor World Cup and there were lots of managers who didn't survive a poor World Cup," he told talkSPORT.

"The FA have shown a lot of faith in him. They feel he is still the right man, and I'm sure he is. He needs to have a decent Euros really. If he has a disaster in the Euros then obviously he has to expect he will be under severe pressure.

"We've got a good side, good young players, and I think we will have a good Euros. If he does that, then I'm sure he will get a contract taking him into the World Cup."

Redknapp was the bookies' favourite to get the England job ahead of Hodgson in 2012.
