Nicola Rizzoli has been announced as the referee for England's opening Euro 2016 match against Russia on Saturday.
The 44-year-old is one of the most experienced officials in football having taken charge of the 2014 World Cup final in Brazil, which saw Germany beat Argentina after extra time.
He has also previously refereed the 2010 Europa League final and the 2013 Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
The Italian took charge of an England game against France during the group stages at Euro 2012, overseeing a 1-1 draw on that occasion.
Rizzoli will be assisted at the Stade Velodrome by compatriots Elenito Di Liberatore and Mauro Tonolini this weekend.
