Southampton's St Mary's Stadium is the frontrunner to host England's Euro 2020 qualifier against Kosovo, Press Association Sport understands.
Gareth Southgate's men won 5-1 in Montenegro last week after kicking off their European Championship campaign with a 5-0 victory against the Czech Republic at Wembley.
The Football Association announced in March that England's third home qualifier would be played away from the national stadium, with St Mary's in the box seat to host the match with Kosovo on September 10.
Press Association Sport understands conversations are ongoing with stakeholders about playing the game in Southampton, where the Three Lions were held to a 2-2 draw against Macedonia in 2002.
England played at Leeds' Elland Road in a pre-World Cup friendly against Costa Rica last summer, before taking on Switzerland at the King Power Stadium in Leicester.
Southgate's men will take on Bulgaria at Wembley on September 7 in their first match after June's inaugural Nations League Finals.
