How England could line up against Czech Republic

Sports Mole looks at how England could line up in Friday's Euro 2020 qualifier with Czech Republic.

England would book their spot in the finals of Euro 2020 with three matches to spare should they overcome Czech Republic in their fifth Group A game on Friday night.

The Three Lions have a three-point lead over second-placed Czech Republic with a game in hand, meaning that their opponents this week would be unable to catch them if they picked up all three points.

Gareth Southgate's side won the reverse game 5-0 at Wembley Stadium back in March, while they have since overcome Montenegro, Bulgaria and Kosovo in impressive fashion.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how England could line up when they take to the field against the team currently ranked 44th in the world by FIFA.

Southgate left the likes of Jesse Lingard, Dele Alli and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out of his latest squad, while Kyle Walker has once again not been selected for the Three Lions.

Dean Henderson, Tyrone Mings, Fikayo Tomori and James Maddison are the four uncapped players in the latest selection, although it would be a huge surprise if any were named in the starting XI on Friday night.

Perhaps the main talking points come in central defence and in the final third; Joe Gomez and Michael Keane are battling for the position alongside Harry Maguire at the back as John Stones is out injured.

Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane are certainties to start in the final third of the field, but Jadon Sancho has made a strong case to be named ahead of Marcus Rashford having netted twice in the 5-3 win over Kosovo last time out.

Sancho could well get the nod on the right, but the midfield is expected to remain unchanged with Declan Rice supporting Jordan Henderson and Ross Barkley, while Ben Chilwell and Trent Alexander-Arnold are seemingly now Southgate's first-choice picks in the full-back areas.

Everton midfielder Fabian Delph had been named in the original squad, but the 29-year-old was forced to pull out earlier this week with a hamstring problem.
