England manager Gareth Southgate has confirmed that goalkeeper Jack Butland will start against Costa Rica on Thursday night.
The Three Lions will play their final friendly before making the trip to Russia for the World Cup, and Southgate told reporters at a press conference that he plans to rotate his squad for the game at Elland Road.
While not revealing his starting lineup, Southgate acknowledged that Butland would be given the chance to impress, with the Stoke City stopper expected to act as deputy to Jordan Pickford for the 32-nation tournament.
Southgate has also said that Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will be given his England debut, without stating whether the youngster would start the fixture in Yorkshire.
The 19-year-old has been rewarded for his form for the Merseyside giants, with 27 starts being made in the Premier League and Champions League this season.
