England defender Ashley Cole has paid tribute to his Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard, who will earn his 100th cap for the Three Lions this evening.
The midfielder will join the likes of Cole and current captain Steven Gerrard in a group of centurions when he takes to the field against Ukraine in their World Cup qualifier in Kiev.
"He's amazing," Cole told TheFA.com. "He's one of the best midfielders England has had and one of the best the world has seen.
"It's a great achievement, I think he was very nice with the comments he made about me when I did it and the same when Stevie G did it. I think if there's another player who does deserve it, it's him. So I'm very happy for him and hopefully we can get a good result for him as well."
Cole made his 100th appearance for England during their victory over Brazil at Wembley in February.
