Frank Lampard wants time

Frank Lampard says that England need time to find the right balance of youth and experience.

England midfielder Frank Lampard has insisted that the team must be given time to find the right balance after their 1-1 draw with Ukraine.

After going a goal down, the Chelsea man scored a penalty to draw the hosts level late on in the game before Steven Gerrard was sent off for a second bookable offence in a lacklustre display.

Despite many claiming that the Three Lions have an easy qualifying group, Lampard is adamant that progressing to the 2014 World Cup won't be straightforward.

"Ukraine are no mugs at all, they're a good team, they've got wingers who are particularly good on the ball, they have experience in the team," said Lampard. "It won't be an easy group, and Poland and Montenegro as well, will be teams that cause you problems. Poland and Montenegro have drawn already, and the group is pretty well balanced.

"Poland in the next away game will be very tough. But there is a need to be patient.

"It won't always click straight away. It won't always click anyway. This is international football you are talking about and these are difficult games. But with young players, experienced players, it's about trying to find the right blend."

England remain unbeaten in their current World Cup qualifying campaign.
