Professional Football Association chairman Clarke Carlisle has urged UEFA to issue the Serbian Under-21s side with a ban following an alleged incident of racial abuse from the club's supporters.
England Under-21 full-back Danny Rose stormed off the field at the full-time whistle of his side's 1-0 win over Serbia last night and indicated that he had been racially abused by the opposing team's fans by making a monkey gesture to the crowd before reaching the tunnel.
When asked by BBC News how he felt watching those scenes, Carlisle said: "Shock, disgust and concern. I was sat there with Paul Ince whose son was playing.
"When an organisation is supposed to have a zero tolerance towards racial abuse, there was no protection. This is not the first time an offence has been committed in Serbia. It has to be a ban."
The English national side reported the incident to UEFA.
