Southampton defender Luke Shaw has admitted that it has been an "amazing and emotional week" for him, after being called up to the England squad for the first time.
The 18-year-old has impressed for the Saints this season and is in line to make his debut for the Three Lions during their friendly with Denmark this week.
Shaw has claimed that he is not focused on winning a place in Roy Hodgson's World Cup squad, but is confident that if he keeps up his form he has an outside chance of going to Brazil.
"It has been an amazing and emotional week," he told The FA's official website. "I was a little teary on the phone to my mum after finding out and I think had we won against Liverpool (Southampton lost 3-0), it would have been the best week of my life."
"Hopefully I can get a chance and take it on Wednesday as well as in the couple of training sessions we have before the game.
"I will see what happens this week in training. I have no eyes on the World Cup yet but we will see what happens at the end of the season."
Shaw has made 28 appearances for the Saints this season, helping the club to ninth in the Premier League table.
