John Terry named in England squad

:Headline: John Terry named in England squad: ID:42646: from db_amp
John Terry is named in England's squad to face Moldova and Ukraine, while Manchester United trio Rio Ferdiand, Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young are omitted.

John Terry has been included in Roy Hodgson's England squad to face Moldova and Ukraine next month, despite an ongoing FA case against the centre-back.

Terry is currently the subject of an investigation from English football's governing body relating to his alleged racial abuse of Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.

However, Hodgson had previously stated that as long as he was free to pick Terry then he would, and the 65-year-old has remained true to his word.

Terry's inclusion also ensures that there is no place for Anton's brother Rio Ferdinand, while Rio's Manchester United teammates Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young also miss out, the former due to injury.

Michael Carrick, Ryan Bertrand and Jack Butland all retain their spots, while there are returns for the likes of Steven Gerrard, Joe Hart and Ashley Cole.

England get their World Cup qualifiers underway against Moldova on September 7 before returning to Wembley to face Ukraine four days later.

England squad:

Goalkeepers: Jack Butland (Birmingham City), Joe Hart (Manchester City), John Ruddy (Norwich City)

Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), John Terry (Chelsea), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur)

Midfielders: Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Adam Johnson (Sunderland), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), James Milner (Manchester City), Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

Forwards: Andy Carroll (Liverpool), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham Hotspur), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United)
