England winger Andros Townsend has refused to be too downbeat following the team's friendly defeat to Chile on Friday.
The Three Lions were beaten 2-0 at Wembley Stadium thanks to two goals from Alexis Sanchez.
However, Townsend believes that the match was a good opportunity for other players to prove themselves ahead of next year's World Cup in Brazil.
"The Chile game was a good test for us, and hopefully we can do better in the Germany game," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
"Friendlies are about giving people the chance to show what they can do, and we did that with rotating the team, but unfortunately did not get the result we were looking for.
"We have played a lot of European sides and to test ourselves against a South American side who do play a different style, we will take the positives out of it and move on to hopefully get a good result on Tuesday."
England welcome Germany to Wembley in a friendly on Tuesday.
