England fall to a home defeat in their international friendly match against Chile.

Chile have beaten England at Wembley tonight with a brace from Barcelona player Alexis Sanchez.

It was almost 1-0 to England only three minutes in. Adam Lallana put a cross into the box and Phil Jones got his head to the ball, directing a header at goal. However, Chile goalkeeper Claudio Bravo palmed it away.

Moments later the Three Lions had an even better chance. James Milner drilled in a ball from the right and saw it take a deflection off a defender and head towards goal. Bravo, however, again made the stop.

England's positive start was then wiped out two minutes later. Jean Beausejour worked the ball to Eugenio Mena, who lofted it in. Alexis Sanchez was able to reach up highest and nod the ball past Fraser Forster.

England's response was swift, as Wayne Rooney found Lallana and the Southampton man fired in a low shot, but again Bravo was there to save.

Chile looked dangerous on the counter and Beausejour forced Forster into a decent save.

Bravo was called into action again, this time tipping Frank Lampard's dipping shot over the bar and then keeping out Jack Wilshere, who caught a half-volley from 25 yards.

However, Chile then had two chances to double their lead. First, Gary Medel lost his marker but missed with a header, before Beausejour fluffed his chance to test Forster after the away side had outdone England with their passing.

Jones almost found the bottom corner when he stuck out a leg, and Lallana could have levelled the scores, but he drilled his effort wide.

Rooney made an early break in the second half but his cutback was forced out for a corner that eventually came to nothing.

The Manchester United striker then blazed a curling effort over the bar after cutting onto his right foot.

Andros Townsend came on for Jay Rodriguez and the Tottenham Hotspur man made an immediate impact, starting the move which lead to an England free kick. However, Leighton Baines's effort was deflected off the wall.

The tempo of the match began to fall and both teams struggled to create a clear opening. Chile seemed happy to wind down the clock, but England failed to cause them much worry.

Chile then completed a famous victory with a second deep in stoppage time. Cahill gave the ball away and the visitors attacked, playing in Sanchez. From there, the striker clipped the ball over Forster for his second of the night.
