Jamie Vardy wants to build on England debut

Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy says that winning his first England cap against the Republic of Ireland has left him hungry for more.

Jamie Vardy has said that he is keen for more international action after making his England debut on Sunday.

The Leicester City striker came off the bench in the goalless draw with the Republic of Ireland in Dublin to become the first Foxes player since Ian Walker in 2004 to play for the Three Lions.

The 28-year-old replaced captain Wayne Rooney in the 75th minute at the Aviva Stadium.

"I'm obviously over the moon. It literally is what dreams are made of," Vardy told The FA's official website.

"Coming on for Wayne as well, I just thought I'd go out there, enjoy myself and try to show what I can do. I had a little chat with the gaffer beforehand – it was literally just do what I've been doing at club level and bring it on to the field to try and get the victory that we wanted.

"It was a strange game but it still keeps us unbeaten since the World Cup. We've got another week's training now and we will be preparing for the next game."

England face Slovenia in a Euro 2016 qualifier next Sunday.
