Theo Walcott will stay in hospital overnight with the chest injury that he picked up during England's win over San Marino on Friday night, it has been confirmed.
The Arsenal winger was taken off after only five minutes of the 5-0 World Cup qualifying victory at Wembley Stadium after a collision with opposition goalkeeper Aldo Simoncini.
"Theo is in hospital and it was a very nasty chest injury," manager Roy Hodgson told BBC Sport. "He is being scanned now.
"It was a very fierce attack on him and I don't think for a minute the keeper did it deliberately, but it was a very rash challenge."
England's win means that they now top Group H by four points.
