England 'considering travel options for World Cup'

England managing director Adrian Bevington says that they will consider all their travel "options" for the World Cup following the draw in Brazil.

England managing director Adrian Bevington has claimed that they will "consider all options" after discovering where they will be playing their World Cup group games.

The Three Lions were drawn in Group D this afternoon, alongside Uruguay, Italy and Costa Rica.

For their opening match against Italy on June 15, the Three Lions will have to take a five-and-a-half-hour flight to Manaus from their base in Rio.

"Manaus is a big journey into the Amazon, but the other two games are both relatively close to our base in Rio," Bevington told BBC Radio 5 live. "We will regroup this evening and go through things, then we have a meeting with Roy and his backroom staff in 10 days' time.

"Once we have played the game in Manaus, we will then fly back. Then, we are within an hour's flight for the two other games.

"We consider all options at the moment. In reality, we would have to consider the quality of training grounds in Manaus if we were to fly directly from Miami a few days earlier instead of travelling there from Rio de Janeiro."

As well as the distance, Manaus is known for its scorching temperatures, which could trouble the Three Lions.
