England manager Roy Hodgson has claimed that the 0-0 draw with Ukraine on Tuesday evening was a fair result.
Hodgson's side remain top of Group H with two matches left to play and he insisted that a point was a good outcome for England due to the number of players that were unavailable.
"It was probably a fair result. I think we had clear control of the game in the second half," Hodgson told reporters.
"We have lost seven players from the original squad and I think we have to be more than satisfied with the results. We gained the result without riding our luck.
"It was for them to be adventurous, not us. In the first half, there were quite a few interesting situations. Perhaps we did not have quite the quality we needed to make that count."
England play Montenegro on October 11 before facing Poland four days later, with both games taking place at Wembley.
