Frank Lampard will captain England in their final World Cup Group D match against Costa Rica.
The 36-year-old has hinted at retiring from international football at the end of the tournament and will win his 106th cap for his country.
He is expected to take the place of Steven Gerrard, whose own future with England remains uncertain.
England manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Luke Shaw will take the injured Leighton Baines's place in the starting lineup.
Hodgson also hinted that a number of players who have not made an appearance at the finals so far will play some part against the Costa Ricans.
"I'll pick the side with a view to making certain all the players get some minutes," BBC Sport quotes Hodgson as saying.
England were knocked out of the tournament following Costa Rica's 1-0 win over Italy on Friday.
