Poland fans get 18,000 Wembley tickets

The Football Association confirm that Polish fans have been provided 18,000 tickets for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier at Wembley.

The Football Association have tonight confirmed that Poland fans have been sold 18,000 tickets for Tuesday night's crunch World Cup qualifier against England at Wembley.

FIFA rules dictate that visiting supporters must receive a minimum 10% allocation for World Cup qualifiers, which entitles Polish supporters to at least 9,000 tickets.

After taking into account the possibility of Polish fans buying tickets in other areas of the stadium the Football Association have made adjustments, doubling the minimum allocation to accommodate away fans.

An FA spokesman told Sky Sports News: "The FA, working with the Polish FA, have provided 18,000 tickets to Polish supporters.

"With high demand for tickets from the large Polish community in England the FA took the decision, based on safety grounds, to ensure Polish fans were allocated space in a specific area of the ground rather than attempting to buy tickets in home areas.

"Tickets in the home areas have been restricted to previous buyers only, with no tickets now remaining for this fixture. This is the same process that was employed for the successful Scotland and Republic of Ireland fixtures earlier this year."

England need a win on Tuesday evening to guarantee a safe passage to next summer's finals in Brazil, with Poland looking to spoil Roy Hodgson's plans.
