Wayne Rooney has revealed that he dreams of captaining England to international success in the future.
The Manchester United forward was the Three Lions skipper for their 5-0 win against San Marino in the 2014 World Cup qualifier at Wembley on Friday.
"Of course, I dream of captaining England to glory one day," the 26-year-old is quoted as saying in The Mirror.
"As a young player, your dream is to play for England and, once you play, the next step is to captain your country.
"I've done it now. It was a great honour and hopefully one day in it can be full-time."
Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard will return as the England captain for their Group H clash with Poland in Warsaw on Tuesday.
