Striker Daniel Sturridge has said that patience was a key factor in England securing a 3-0 victory over Scotland on Friday night.
Sturridge opened the scoring at Wembley Stadium and after Scotland squandered three chances to get back into the game, Adam Lallana and Gary Cahill struck to give the Three Lions a commanding win in the World Cup qualifying fixture.
The result comes just five weeks after England failed to break down Slovenia but Sturridge has insisted that only small changes were made for the showdown with the Tartan Army.
The 27-year-old is quoted by the Football Association's official website as saying: "We were unlucky not to break Slovenia down in our last game but we played the same style of football we played last time out.
"We were more patient and in the end we wore Scotland down and deserved this result."
The win for England ensured that they remain two points clear at the top of Group F.
