England forward Daniel Sturridge was struck by a beer can thrown from the stands during the latter stages of his side's 0-0 draw with Honduras on Saturday.
The 24-year-old was hit in the chest by the object, which appeared to be hurled from a section behind the Honduras goal containing supporters from both sides.
The Liverpool forward engaged with the fans almost immediately after the contact was made, but the match was all but over as England were held to a goalless draw.
Although goalless, Sturridge was involved in a number of incidents during the match, including being on the receiving end of a cynical foul by Celtic's Emilio Izaguirre, who directly kicked the ball into Sturridge's body.
