England's disappointing World Cup campaign ended with a 0-0 draw against group winners Costa Rica in Belo Horizonte today.

Celso Borges hit the crossbar for the Central Americans, while Daniel Sturridge squandered a number of chances for England.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at who impressed in the final round of Group D.

COSTA RICA

Goal

Keylor Navas: Bright and alert to any danger throughout, coming off his line to make a couple of vital blocks and interceptions. Only had one shot to stop, but was impressive in his general play. (8/10)

Defence

Cristian Gamboa: Didn't pose much of a threat in an attacking sense on the right flank and was the man England targeted most in the first half. Solid game. (6/10)

Oscar Duarte: Was perhaps fortunate not to give away a penalty for a challenge on Sturridge in the first half, but once no foul was given it became a good piece of defending. (7/10)

Giancarlo Gonzalez: Solid enough throughout the game, although his side's clean sheet was more down to wasteful finishing than good defending. Was booked for a poor tackle on Barkley. (7/10)

Roy Miller: Gave the ball away a number of times in the first half with some poor passing, but recovered to have a solid game. (6/10)

Junior Diaz: Started the match brightly, making a number of attacking runs down the left as he has throughout the tournament so far. However, his influence quickly faded as his side curbed their attacking instincts. (7/10)

Midfield

Bryan Ruiz: Didn't have as much of an influence on this game as he has in the previous two. Offered very little going forward. (6/10)

Celso Borges: Was unlucky to hit the bar with a fabulous free kick from range that saw Foster just about get the slightest of touches to tip it onto the woodwork. (7/10)

Yeltsin Tejeda: Played one or two nice passes out to the wings as Costa Rica looked to attack down the flanks, but was part of a midfield battle that England just about won. (6/10)

Attack

Randall Brenes: Made one or two bright runs and looked to be Costa Rica's most dangerous player going forward, although that is not saying much at all. (7/10)

Joel Campbell: Nothing like the nuisance he has proven to be against Uruguay and Italy and posed very little threat to England's defence. Didn't do anything wrong particularly, but was a victim of his side's willingness to play for a draw. (6/10)

Substitutes

Cristian Bolanos: Came on shortly before the hour mark and had a few decent touches here and there, but didn't have too great an impact on the match. (6/10)

Marco Urena: Replaced Campbell in the 65th minute but, like the Arsenal man, failed to really threaten England's defence during his time on the field. (6/10)

Michael Barrantes: Had 12 minutes to make an impact but could do nothing special in that time. (6/10)

ENGLAND

Goal

Ben Foster: Was idle for long periods but made a superb stop to tip a first-half free kick onto the crossbar and looked safe under the high ball all night. (7/10)

Defence

Phil Jones: Was something of a weak point at times for England, but didn't have too much to do defensively. Set up a good chance for Sturridge with a header back across goal. (6/10)

Gary Cahill: Solid and sturdy. Costa Rica didn't do too much attacking but, when they did, Cahill was there to make important blocks and clear the danger. (7/10)

Chris Smalling: Looked uncomfortable on the ball for much of the match, but grew into the game as it progressed. Still needs to prove himself at this level. (6/10)

Luke Shaw: Made a shaky start, giving the ball away a few times in the opening exchanges, but soon eased his way into the game. Didn't have much of an impact from left-back, but it was a solid display from the youngster. (6/10)

Midfield

James Milner: Switched between the flanks during his time on the field before being replaced by Rooney. Had one or two decent pieces of play on the wing, but nothing too noteworthy. (6/10)

Frank Lampard: Went about his business quietly in what could be his final appearance for England. Played some trademark long passes out to teammates and was part of a midfield battle that England won. (7/10)

Jack Wilshere: Gave the ball away on a number of occasions in the opening exchanges but grew into the game and looked to make positive runs forward. Created a really good chance for Sturridge with a one-two with the Liverpool man. (7/10)

Adam Lallana: Made some good bursts forward and was looking like one of England's more creative players until he was taken off with just under half an hour remaining. (7/10)

Ross Barkley: Also tried to inject some positivity in England's attacks with some good runs and clever footwork. However, his decision-making and ball retention skills still need to improve. (7/10)

Attack

Daniel Sturridge: Was England's most dangerous player with some good movement and clever runs. However, he failed to make the most of those as he missed a couple of glaring opportunities that he would have expected to score. Was unfortunate not to get a penalty and, on another day, could have had a hat-trick. (7/10)

Substitutes

Raheem Sterling: Replaced Lallana just after the hour mark but didn't have much of an impact on the game. Showed glimpses of his electric pace and ability to beat a man, but couldn't create anything. (6/10)

Steven Gerrard: Had a 17-minute cameo in what could prove to be his final appearance for England. Played a couple of searching long-range passes that put his side in good positions, but didn't have enough time to really influence the game. (6/10)

Wayne Rooney: Held the ball up quite well and had one chipped effort that was comfortably tipped behind by Navas. Like Gerrard, showed glimpses of his quality, but didn't have long enough on the field to change things. (6/10)
