Gareth Barry warns Everton teammates ahead of "really tough" test

Gareth Barry admits that Everton will face a "really tough" test as they look to defend their lead against Dynamo Kiev on Thursday.

Gareth Barry has insisted that Everton will be in for a "really tough" challenge when they look to protect their first-leg advantage against Dynamo Kiev on Thursday.

A 2-1 victory for the hosts at Goodison Park last week means the pressure is on Kiev in the Europa League last-16 tie, but Barry believes that any complacency from the Toffees will be punished.

"We've seen signs of their quality and after the game last week, even though we'd won the game and put in a performance, we knew the tie wasn't dead and that it is still finely balanced," the midfielder told reporters.

"We are going to have to be on top of our game and we need to use our experience over there because I am certainly expecting a really tough game.

"The atmosphere and the style the Ukrainian team will have means we are going to have to defend well as a team and be together as a team, give 100% and take our chances when they come."

Everton have lost just one of their nine Europa League games this season.
