John Stones: 'Everton turn up for big games'

Everton defender John Stones admits that it has been a "tough" season for his side so far, but is confident of progressing in the FA Cup this weekend.

John Stones has declared himself fit for Saturday's FA Cup showdown with Manchester United and claimed that he and his Everton teammates will be fully up to the task.

The England international was taken off during the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday night due to a severe stomach bug and cramps.

Stones is fit to feature at Wembley, however, providing the Toffees with a major boost following the suspension of Ramiro Funes Mori and a big ongoing concern over the fitness of Phil Jagielka.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's clash, the young centre-back insisted that his side can quickly overcome the shock of losing so heavily in the Merseyside derby.

"It's been a tough season for everyone at Everton," The Mirror quotes him as saying. "We've been trying to progress and improve as a team and the FA Cup has seen us produce some of the best form of our season.

"We've turned up in big games and Saturday's game will be another big one. As a team, we'll be up for it and we know we will have to be focused, not looking past it. We've got to look to the game and play the kind of football we know we can."

Everton's defeat at Anfield leaves them three points off the top half in the Premier League, having played one game more than 10th-placed Chelsea.
