Gareth Barry has claimed that Everton should be "disappointed" to only be leading the Capital One Cup semi-final against Manchester City by one goal.
The Toffees midfielder was speaking after a 2-1 win at Goodison Park which puts Everton in pole position going into next week's second leg at the Etihad.
"The way we played we're probably going off disappointed that we're only one goal to the good," Barry told Sky Sports News. "It was important we came away with victory and we've got to go to the Etihad with confidence now.
"We used our crowd as an advantage tonight - it's good playing under the lights here at Goodison, but it's only half time and we've got a tough game to come at the Etihad."
Blues top-scorer Romelu Lukaku scored the winner for the home side, who have not won a major trophy for 21 years, but then limped off with an injury shortly afterwards.
