Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has insisted that his team have shown their Premier League rivals how good they are with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Aston Villa at Goodison Park this afternoon.
The 21-year-old scored twice in the victory over Remi Garde's side, and teed up Romelu Lukaku for his second of the afternoon as Roberto Martinez's team made it three games unbeaten in the league.
"We knew from the start that Aston Villa would get men behind the ball but we showed good patience, defended really well and scored four goals from open play," Barkley told BBC Sport.
"We showed how good a team we are. I have taken my form from the internationals into this game and I'm buzzing with my goals. I'm enjoying the best football of my career and to get two goals was a bonus."
Barkley has now amassed five goals and four assists in the Premier League this season, and has established himself as a regular in Roy Hodgson's England side.
