Everton midfielder Darron Gibson has revealed that he is "devastated" after being ruled out of action with cruciate knee ligament damage.
The 25-year-old suffered the problem while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland in their World Cup qualifier against Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
Gibson will now undergo knee surgery before what is expected to be a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
He tweeted: "I'm devastated, but would like to thank all the fans for their messages, long road ahead but I'll be back fitter and stronger!"
Early reports have suggested that Gibson could miss the rest of the season.
