Sebastian Larsson has said that Sunderland cannot complain following their 1-1 draw with Everton on Sunday.
The Swedish midfielder put the Black Cats ahead with a second-half free kick, but Leighton Baines secured a point for a visitors with a penalty 14 minutes from time.
"When you go 1-0 up in a tight game, you're always going to be disappointed, especially when you concede a penalty," Larsson told the Sunderland Echo.
"But, at the same time, when you look back, we can't really have too many complaints that Everton came away with a point.
"It was a game that could have gone either way. When you are the team who go 1-0 up, you want to hang on, but it wasn't to be this time."
Sunderland are 14th in the Premier League following the result, while Everton sit 10th.
