Roberto Martinez has claimed that it is in Everton's DNA to expect to win trophies following his side's 3-0 victory over Lille in the Europa League.
The Toffees took another step towards a spot in the knockout stages of the competition with a comfortable win at Goodison Park, and Martinez believes that the pressure is on to challenge for silverware this season.
"We are in a football club that are expected to win things," the Spaniard told reporters. "It's been a long time since we won a trophy but the relationship between Everton and European competitions goes back to the 1950s.
"It's in our DNA and we have to galvanise it and get it now.
"It's only November, and if you start talking about what you can get in competitions then you can look a bit foolish, but every game we go into we want to win it."
Everton only need to win one of their two remaining Group H games against Wolfsburg and Krasnodar to book a spot in the next round.
