Everton are reportedly making a late attempt to sign Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo.
Having confirmed Sean Dyche as the club's new manager on Monday, the Toffees had been hoping for a productive day in the transfer market on deadline day.
However, after allegedly failing with an approach for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, it has been all quiet on the incomings front.
That is despite Everton having cashed in on Anthony Gordon, who has been allowed to move to Newcastle United in a deal which could eventually reach £45m.
Nevertheless, it appears that the Merseyside outfit are attempting to take advantage of Zaniolo having struggled to secure a move away from Stadio Olimpico.
According to Sport Italia, Everton have made contact with Roma in an attempt to negotiate a deal for the Italy international.
Jose Mourinho has publicly commented on Zaniolo's situation on more than one occasion, insisting that it looks highly likely that no team will meet Roma's demands.
While Bournemouth were allegedly prepared to accept Roma's valuation, it was unclear whether the 23-year-old would be open to moving to the Vitality Stadium.
Despite Everton being narrowly below Bournemouth in the Premier League standings, the suggestion is that they are bidding to tempt the attacker into a late switch.
On the back of telling Mourinho that he wishes to leave the club, Zaniolo has not made an appearance for Roma since January 12. body check tags ::
