Everton are reportedly planning a bid for CSKA Moscow attacking midfielder Alan Dzagoev when the transfer window opens next month.
The 26-year-old has been with the Russian outfit for eight years and was on target for his side in their 3-1 Champions League defeat at Tottenham Hotspur last week.
The Toffees' director of football Steve Walsh was in attendance at the match to scout Dzagoev, and according to the Liverpool Echo, the club have now begun discussions with his representatives over a January switch.
Manager Ronald Koeman is looking to bring in a number of players next month and thinks that Dzagoev will provide competition for the faltering Ross Barkley.
West Ham United are also said to be monitoring the situation.
